Like many of you, we have been trying to cope with our own financial struggles over the past few years, and our business has been feeling the pain as well. The economic climate in the Detroit area has been particularly bad, operating expenses and product costs have increased, and it has been increasingly difficult to find good help. Now, serious health issues have forced us to make a difficult decision, and it is with great sorrow that we announce that we are closing down Bishop’s Performance.   This has been a heartbreaking decision to have to make, but we simply no longer have a choice.  Among other health issues, Bill ("Hammer") has been suffering from degenerative disc disease which has caused increasing back and neck pain for several years now, and has finally reached the point where even morphine doesn’t numb the pain, and he can no longer work. At last count, he has at least 7 herniated discs - 3 in his neck, 2 in his upper back, and 2 more in his lower back. The ones in his neck have been pinching his spinal cord making it almost impossible to hold anything in his hands - including tools. I was trying to help do some of the work, but I just don't have enough experience. He had his first surgery on March 8th to fuse 4 vertebrae in his neck, and eventually he hopes to be able to also fix the other problems in his back, but it is going to be a long road. With luck, he may be able to resume porting heads some day in the future, but we just don’t know ...   Bill and I extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you, our customers, and friends who have supported us over the years, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we go through this difficult time.
